Design, build and play your very own Call of Duty multiplayer maps!
According to Treyarch, come early 2016 players who bought Black Ops 3 on PC will be able to make their own maps and modes.
With a new title comes a new year, and with a new year comes the availability of using new and improved tech – Treyarch said that mod tools have been one of the “top requests” from players and the studio is excited to finally deliver them in the new game.
This new pioneering system will have a closed Alpha phase followed by an open Beta. Treyarch estimate the Alpha to commence sometime in March of next year. There is no word as of yet, on how to get access to these testing phases but I am sure in time we will know.
Treyarch has also confirmed that it plans to release unranked dedicated server files alongside the Black Ops III modding tools so that players can run their own servers with modded content.
“Please remember that this is software development, so things don’t always work out exactly as planned,” Treyarch said. “Sometimes features slip or drop off altogether, sometimes they get replaced with other, more awesome features as we hit into limitations of our original plans.”
Whether or not these modded versions will be available on console version is yet to be seen. The same goes for Fallout 4. Black Ops III launches this coming Friday, November 6, across all platforms! Suit up!
Are you ready for mod tools in Call of Duty? What would you do first?
