Christmas In Boston: Here’s How to Trigger Fallout 4’s Christmas Event!

Diamond city is awash with tinsel and sparkling lights – the traders are singing Christmas carols and even the super mutants have a spring in their step. The stockings are hung by all their chimneys with care, in hope that Saint Nicholas soon will be there. It’s Christmas in Fallout 4!

The wasteland in Fallout 4 can be a cold and unforgiving place – traditional values of kinship and extending kindness to your fellow man have all but disappeared from the commonwealth.

But, just like the Great War, there appears to be one day in the year where all the guns fall silent and joyous song can be heard through the mist, carrying playfully over the scorched landscapes. That’s right, Christmas day in the wasteland has not been forgotten.

Christmas In the Commonwealth: Here’s How to Trigger Fallout 4’s Christmas Event!

Trigger the festivities – It’s a waiting game

This brilliantly festive easter egg is a snap to trigger – just play the waiting game. In Fallout 4, the player has the opportunity to skip through segments of time by utilising beds, chairs and other similar facilities. This allows players to skip through day and night cycles or to lay low during a radiation storm. Players can choose how many hours they wish to rest for using the onscreen menu that appears.

The next step is to figure out exactly how long you need to sleep. If you take a look at your map you will see, in the bottom left corner, an in game date. The game starts on the October 23, 2287 – this means that you will need to sleep a fair few weeks to make it to Christmas (not hard for you students out there).

However as most of you will have clocked up a few weeks by now – and if you haven’t, where have you been!? – you will not need to rest too long.

So, the process is simple. Sleep until Christmas day and then head into Diamond City. That’s it. Once inside, make the most of the festive cheer – sip back on eggnog and share a festive tale with a trader – after all, tis the season to be jolly.

Have you found or even built anything else festive in Fallout 4?
